Vietnam, 1968. We were deep in the Central Highlands, just trying to stay alive. Our recon unit had set up camp near a clearing. The jungle was thick, and the air was sticky and hot. I was on watch that night when the usual jungle noises just... stopped. Then, I heard it—a low growl. My buddies and I went on high alert. Out of nowhere, a huge Bengal tiger appeared, eyes glowing in the dark. It was like something out of a nightmare. We stood there, frozen, guns ready, but not sure what to do. Suddenly, the tiger charged. We fired our M16s, but it moved like lightning. One second it was here, the next it was there. It took one of our guy before we even knew what was happening. I remember diving to the ground to dodge a swipe that could’ve taken my head off. Eventually, the tiger, bleeding from our shots, backed off and disappeared into the jungle. We lost a men that night, and several others were hurt. It was a harsh reminder that Vietnam wasn’t just a warzone—it was a wild place where anything could happen.

In the spring of 2012, I was on a routine delivery from Texas to New Mexico, cruising along a less-traveled backroad to avoid traffic. The scenery was beautiful, with open plains and the occasional tumbleweed rolling by. Little did I know, I was about to experience something truly bizarre. As I drove, I noticed a peculiar stretch of road that seemed different from the rest. The sky above turned an unusual shade, and the air felt thick, almost electric. The walls were adorned with vintage posters, and the jukebox was playing classic hits. The patrons were dressed in retro clothing, laughing and chatting like it was decades earlier. I approached the counter, trying to make sense of what was happening. The waitress smiled and served me a slice of pie, but as I took a bite, everything suddenly shifted. The world around me blurred, and in an instant, I found myself back in my truck, on the same stretch of road, but the diner was nowhere in sight. I checked the clock again, and it was normal, showing the exact time I had expected. My heart raced as I realized that the diner—and that strange moment in time—had vanished as quickly as it had appeared. When I finally reached my destination, I couldn’t shake off the eerie feeling of what had just happened. I shared the story with other drivers, and while some laughed it off, others nodded in understanding, hinting that the road can sometimes play tricks on those who wander off the beaten path. To this day, I can’t explain the time warp I experienced, but it remains one of the most unforgettable moments of my life on the road.

It was a sweltering afternoon in July 2019 when I was hauling a load through the remote stretches of Texas. I walked inside, and the atmosphere felt thick, as if time had stood still. There were old scales and dusty paperwork scattered about, but no one in sight. I tried to shake off the unease, Suddenly heard a loud bang from outside. I rushed out to see what was happening, only to find the parking lot completely empty. My truck was the only vehicle there, and the weigh station was eerily quiet. I looked around, confused, and that’s when I noticed something strange. The weigh station was no longer visible from the road. It felt like it had vanished! I turned back to where I thought it had been, but all I saw was endless fields stretching into the horizon. Panic set in, and I ran to my truck, desperately trying to get my bearings. I jumped back into the cab and quickly restarted the engine. Just as I was about to pull out, I glanced in the rearview mirror, and there it was again—the weigh station, now fully intact as if nothing had happened. It looked just like it did when I first arrived, but my heart raced with confusion. I hesitated for a moment, then sped away, eager to put as much distance between me and that place as possible. I didn’t stop until I reached the next town, where I shared my bizarre story with fellow drivers. They exchanged knowing glances, some laughing it off, but others nodded, suggesting they had heard similar tales about that stretch of highway. To this day, I can’t explain what happened at that weigh station, but I’ll never forget the feeling of it disappearing right before my eyes. It was a strange reminder that the road holds many mysteries, some far more unsettling than others.
