In 2018, during a training exercise at Fort Carson, Colorado, my unit and I experienced something truly unsettling. We were conducting night maneuvers in the rugged terrain, known for its challenging environment and unpredictable weather.
One particularly dark and windy night, as we navigated through a dense forest area, I began to hear whispers and faint voices that seemed to come from all directions. Thinking it might be a prank by other soldiers, I dismissed it at first. However, the voices grew louder and more distinct, speaking in what sounded like an old, unfamiliar dialect.
As we pressed on, my flashlight beam caught a glimpse of a shadowy figure moving quickly between the trees. I signaled to my team, and we all stopped to investigate. The figure seemed to be watching us, staying just out of sight. We moved closer, but every time we thought we were near, it disappeared, only to reappear further away.
The whispers continued, now joined by the sound of footsteps rustling in the underbrush. Despite our thorough search, we found no one. The eerie encounters lasted throughout the night, leaving us all on edge. When we returned to base and shared our experience, some of the older soldiers recounted similar stories from their training exercises in the same area.
The unexplained phenomena at Fort Carson remain a topic of speculation and unease, with many believing that the area is haunted by the spirits of those who once roamed its lands.
